Forming an index alongside photographed images of discarded (painted) boxes, the juxtaposition attempts to reconstruct ideas and notions rejected over time, remnants of which still litter the popular discourse of homosexuality today. A set of nine digital prints uses text from Chapter 4 of Swiss doctor Richard von Krafft-Ebing’s (now in)famous book, first published in 1886, that was foundational in shaping 19th century understanding of homosexuality, legal as well as medical.
